Dear Friends,
I can’t let this month go by without expressing gratitude for the experience of having met you all a year ago and the role you have played in my life. This month I have reflected on my many good memories of Albuquerque 2013. Thankfully, the friendships we formed still feel very much intact. Every time I connect with anyone from the group, I immediately feel uplifted. It never fails!
This has also been a rather challenging month in one respect. My husband, Ben, was just released from the hospital where he spent six days for a pericardial effusion. A cardiologist removed 750cc of fluid from around his heart in two separate procedures. The cause was never determined, but thankfully Ben is home and seems to be healing without difficulty. I was able to stay with him day and night during that time. It isn’t the kind of “staycation” I would recommend, but at least we were together. At any rate, all is well now.
I want to share something I recently read in a book called the Divine Matrix by Gregg Braden. The author once asked a wise person, “What connects us with one another, our world, and the universe?” The answer he received was, “Compassion. Compassion is what connects all things.” The author then asked, “Is compassion a force of creation, or is it an experience?” The answer came back, “It is both.” The author goes on to state “...in order to achieve compassion, we much approach a circumstance without a strong expectation of the rightness or wrongness of that situation’s outcome. In other words, we must perceive it without judgment or ego.” As I read those words, I began to see NVC in a slightly new light and began to have an even greater appreciation for it.
I hope you are all well and enjoying the summer so far. I think of each of you often. It would be lovely if anyone who has the time or inclination could check in, even briefly, just so we can enjoy connecting again. Otherwise, know I am thinking of you fondly.
Love you all,
Peggy
