Dear Friends,

I cant let this month go by without expressing gratitude for the experience of having met you all a year ago and the role you have played in my life.  This month I have reflected on my many good memories of Albuquerque 2013.  Thankfully, the friendships we formed still feel very much intact.  Every time I connect with anyone from the group, I immediately feel uplifted.  It never fails!

This has also been a rather challenging month in one respect.  My husband, Ben, was just released from the hospital where he spent six days for a pericardial effusion.  A cardiologist removed 750cc of fluid from around his heart in two separate procedures.  The cause was never determined, but thankfully Ben is home and seems to be healing without difficulty.  I was able to stay with him day and night during that time.  It isnt the kind of staycation I would recommend, but at least we were together.   At any rate, all is well now.

I want to share something I recently read in a book called the Divine Matrix by Gregg Braden.  The author once asked a wise person, What connects us with one another, our world, and the universe?  The answer he received was, Compassion.  Compassion is what connects all things.  The author then asked, Is compassion a force of creation, or is it an experience?  The answer came back, It is both.  The author goes on to state ...in order to achieve compassion, we much approach a circumstance without a strong expectation of the rightness or wrongness of that situations outcome.  In other words, we must perceive it without judgment or ego.  As I read those words, I began to see NVC in a slightly new light and began to have an even greater appreciation for it.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the summer so far.  I think of each of you often.  It would be lovely if anyone who has the time or inclination could check in, even briefly, just so we can enjoy connecting again.  Otherwise, know I am thinking of you fondly.

Love you all,

Peggy

Peggy,

Thanks for getting the Happy Anniversary thread going. Each time i write the date this past week, I feel joy, gratitude, inspiration, respect, and awe when i think of where I was and who I was with last year at this time.

Before sharing anything else, I wanted to say that I am glad Ben is home from the hospital, and hope he is recovering in a way that offers all of you some rest, health, and peace.

Who I am in June 2014 does indeed include many of the lessons, witnesses, laughs, and connections I celebrated at the IIT in Albuquerque.

"vote with your feet.........would anyone want to share a mourning/celebration today?.......I am THAT I am.......Dissing the Dis......quiet conversations in-between sessions.......the Healings and Reconciliation sessions that people allowed me into.......the generosity of so many when i spoke up and finally stated a need instead of taking care of myself....hula hoops......the dance at the end.....

....and on and on.

Now that I am offering some sessions myself, what really feeds me is how grateful I am to have been immersed in this paradigm shift because i felt, experienced, and marveled at the power of compassion. Continued gratitude to each of our facilitators/trainers for sharing your experience and curiosity with me.

in peace and gratitude,
amy

Hi Penny and everyone,

Thank you Penny for bringing us all back together via your e-mail. mI too have wonderful memories of IIT and of all the amazing learning that continues.  Sophia and I are taking Leadership Program this year and profiting from it immensely.  We hope to be certified sometime next year.

Incidentally, someone referred me to Brene Browns TED talk which I recommend.  I also bought her book, Daring Greatly, which I would recommend.  It help me deal with my core value around shame and not being enough.  She links shame with the inability to be vulnerable, which in turn inhibits our ability to self-connect,which cascades into an inability to connect.  You see how it all fits together and how important it is to deal with the underlying shame (which Brown contends we all have, in one form or another).

Warm wishes to all,

Bruce

dear peggy and all.....

so sweet and vivid to recall us all together this time last year!  thank you, peggy, for noting it here...and for the recollections added by others.  i'm so enjoying the  memories, and the on-going learning, as well as the periodic path-crossing with many of you, in all kinds of ways.  one i'm looking forward to end of july is volunteering at family camp on vashon island ~ which i recall marc and beth did last year...and wasn't there someone else from our IIT?

peggy, i hope hope ben has continued to heal without difficulty, and all is well still.

love to all,
marilyn
