Hello everybody,
Thanks for the invitation. I like this idea of working as a group. It's the best way for active learning. My name is Borja González-Barba. I'm a 35 years old CFA candidate in Seville, Spain. I work for an asset manager company specialised in renewable assets. I'm learning a lot with all the lectures, I find them really helpfull to get the basic concepts of each reading. Even more interesting when you don't have much time (family and lot of work). I study basically at night time, when my wife and 3 girls are sleeping. Currently I'm beginning Reading 6, so I'm a bit behind the class in Karachi but I'll try to reach you sooner than later and follow the schedule advised by Mr. Irfanullah. That's all for now. Good luck to everybody and wish all of you the best in your exam..
Regards,

Hi everyone,
My name is Aziz Amir Ali and I am in karachi with Mr. Irfanullah in his current classes. I run a small limited company which deals in truck tires. I think this is a good platform for current students to be more active and work together. I dont study much either with work and other extra curriculars but will hopefully be prepared for the quiz this weekend. One thing I did want to ask was that I am not studying from anything except Mr. Irfanullah's notes and videos so just wanted to know if is that alright or does everyone else thinks I am a nut case.
Regards
Aziz

Hi All,
My name is Michael Frye and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the US. I completed my MBA a couple of years age at Kellogg and wanted to learn more about the world of investing. My wife and I have 6 childern so study time is also difficult to get in with a busy life. I think that is a part of the equation that makes the test and prepration even more meaningful. I wish everyone the best in studying and taking the exam in June.

Hi all,

My name is Jon Meek and I live outside Chicago.  I've worked in the asset management industry for about 12 years and I'm looking to obtain the CFA designation to help with my career prospects.  Like many of you, I'm married with 2 kids so I'm trying to find any free time to study, etc.  So far, the video lectures have been very helpful.

Regards,

Jon

Hi Aziz,

I think it is alright. The video lectures follow all the book sections one-by-one. As long as you understand all the material covered with examples and solve the practice problems at the end of each reading, you should be in good shape. I personally first finished reading the first book and then began watching the videos. I have realized that the material covered is exactly the same and I happen to understand and memorize the material much better using videos rather than reading. I will sill have the book opened for each video lecture and still will work on all problems at the end of each reading, but I now will only be listening to video lectures without any advance reading. It saves a lot of time and somehow I still feel I  grasp all the needed material.

Good luck,
Lev

Hi Everyone

My name is Mark and I live in New York and work for an investment banking firm. Unfortunately my hours are long and I have been found that the best way to study is through an online vehicle such as this one.  There is so much material to cover, but I have found staying on this schedule has been helpful.  Best of luck to all of you in June.

Hello Everyone,

I am Jitender, working with Microsoft (Redmond, Washington). Its difficult to take out some time and sit for studying after so many years.
Like everyone, I am also trying to do my best to study CFA Level 1 material. Well, I am not able to follow Quants. I have gone through the slides of Ethics, Economics and now doing FRA. I am trying to read all the readings but its not that easy so I decided to write the Quiz after completing readings from the curriculum.
A little about these wonderful presentation, they are making my understanding very clear about all the topics.

All the Best to everyone.

I put this I the wrong section originally. Admin if you could delete that I would appreciate. Can't figure that out on my phone here in the airport.

Hello everyone. My name is Lance and I live and work as a portfolio manager in Denver. Similar story to everyone else, working full time, juggling family (15 month old twins) and foregoing the ski season (sort of) so I can look respectable for the level 1. My MBA was back in 04 so it's taking a little mental gymnastics to remember some of the more esoteric stuff that I don't use everyday (like what is this algebra stuff?).
Plan on just watching the videos straight through and do the the questions after each section is done and try and leave myself the last 5 weeks for nothing but questions and prac exams. So far Econ is not too bad (1/3 or the way through it), quant was not fun, and that's all I've done.

Any ideas on how we turn this group into a forum we can facilitate each others learning?

Hi my name is Khairi and I am currently working as a back office staff in Royal Bank of Scotland. After my graduation it has been tough for me to secure a graduate programme in banking. I stumbled upon CFA and thought this is for me. I am currently preparing for Level 1 June 2013 exam. Looking forward to have some active discussion within this group.

I have just finished studying FRA and with exams coming up less than 10 weeks, I am getting very worried as to how soon I can actually finish the whole curriculum. Just as a guide for myself (and maybe for the rest of you), how far along are you guys at reading the curriculum? Anyone finished the whole curriculum yet?

Best of luck!

Hey..buddy...don't worry...its not the right time to panic. I have completed the curriculum twice, actually I got flunked in my first attempt though failed by a small margin. But I can tell u something wid my xperience that is still there is enough time on your hand just don't panic. Go through the vedio and read the chapter. Do two chapters a day, approx. 30 days are left. So by the end of the month you'll be able to do 60 chapters and last month for practicing ques. Key to clear CFA Level 1 is doing maximum ques. Trust me do all the ques. in the book and mocks. You're certain to clear.

Hello everyone, I want to start studying this week but I'm not sure where to start. I joined this because I'm looking for structure and a group to go basically at the same pace with. So where should I start? Is there a certain date by which we should have a certain reading complete. Please can someone help me out with just figuring out the structure.
