Both sample items and practice tests allow students to view and answer test questions that are like those that could appear on state tests. Teachers and parents also may use related resources to help their students know what to expect.
Thank you for using the timer!
We noticed you are actually not timing your practice. Click the START button first next time you use the timer.
There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
Practice exams Are Approved for 10 Contact Hours. You will receive 10 contact hours for completing all four CPAN practice exams and/or 10 contact hours for completing the four CAPA exams. Partial credit is not available.
The CPAN/CAPA practice exams are not intended to be a study or review course; rather, they are designed to simulate the exam experience while assisting candidates in identifying strengths, gaps and references for further study.
In Training Mode, you will receive feedback between each question indicating whether you answered the question correctly and clarification regarding the correct answer. You can use this mode to review all of the questions in the practice exam before making another attempt. You may take each form in training mode as many times as you would like.
Q: Can I earn contact hours for taking a practice exam?
A: You will receive 10 contact hours for completing all four CPAN practice exams and 10 contact hours for completing the four CAPA exams. Partial credit is not available.
*Note: Prior to 11/25/2022, the CAPA and CPAN Practice Exams were approved for 16 contact hours. Candidates who completed their practice exams and the survey prior to 11/25/2022 will still receive 16 hours for both the CPAN and CAPA exams. This change was due to a new calculation for credit hours by the Ohio Nurses Association, who approves credit for this activity. Candidates who complete the exams after 11/25/2022 will receive 10 hours for CPAN and/or 10 hours for CAPA practice exams.
Q: Why should I take a practice exam?
A: The CPAN and CAPA practice exams will help you assess your readiness to take the CPAN/CAPA exam, as well as identify your study needs. After taking the practice exams, you will be able to:
Q: What is the format of the practice exams?
A: Each of the four CPAN and CAPA practice exams have 50 questions and have been developed to correlate with the CPAN and CAPA examination blueprints.
Q: What is the time limit to complete one exam?
A: You will have 3.3 hours (200 minutes) to take and review each practice test form in Exam Mode. There is no time limit while you are taking the exams in Training Mode.
Q: Will the contact hours count toward my recertification?
A: This activity counts toward your CPAN and/or CAPA recertification, however you must complete all four practice exams to receive credit. Completion of your exams must fall into the appropriate date range to be eligible for recertification credits.
Q: Can I take both the CPAN and the CAPA practice exams for contact hours?
A: Yes, you will receive 10 contact hours for completing the four CPAN practice exams and 10 additional contact hours for completing the four CAPA practice exams.

Before starting a practice exam: Practice questions help prepare students and technicians for the types of questions and/or content they may encounter on certification exams and are NOT intended as an alternative to studying for the exam. Practice questions are NOT the actual exam questions.
We encourage all students and technicians to fully prepare for certification exams by participating in a training class or studying the appropriate preparatory manual for the exam you will be taking. Please contact us at 1-800-726-9696 if you have any questions or if we can help you select the right preparatory materials.
EDIT: I passed. The aforementioned practice exams were harder than the real thing. It's not to say that the exam is a slam dunk and anybody off the street can pass it without preparing for it. I'd say about half the questions are pretty straightforward if you are well-prepared. The other half of the questions are slightly more difficult that require some thinking about what the answers could be. Admittedly for about 10 of the questions, I only had surface-level knowledge on the nature of the questions. But because I had adequately prepared (maybe I even overprepared), I was able to make some reasonable educated guesses. It's a multiple choice exam and the easiest trick to use when you're stuck on a question--you look for the wrong answers to eliminate first.
As far as exams go, it's not an unfair one by any means. IN fact, compared to AWS and Azure, the questions are pretty clear and well-written. I think that anyone who makes an honest effort to prepare for this exam should be able to pass it.
The practice assessments below do not attempt to provide you with an exact experience of the assessments you may be asked to complete. Instead, they provide a similar testing experience, in terms of question types and formats, of the tests you will be asked to complete. Below are examples of the types of tests and/or questionnaires you may be asked to complete.
The following practice tests and any practice test results are only to be used by you to familiarize yourself with our products and how questions operate. You are not permitted to share your results with any third party. Any sharing of these practice test results with a third party will be viewed as misuse of SHL materials and, SHL reserves the right to take legal action against you and anyone who has received the results.
Take practice tests to help you prepare for an upcoming employment assessment. Please note that the level of difficulty of the practice tests may not exactly reflect the level of difficulty of the test you will be asked to complete.
The NMC is introducing a new Test of Competence in August 2021. They have produced practice tests to help you check your understanding and readiness for the new CBT and learn more about the question format, style, and level of difficulty.
The practice tests for numeracy are the same as the live exams in that there are 15 questions of applied numeracy set in a nursing or midwifery context. The nursing numeracy exams as well as the practice tests contain both generic numeracy questions and numeracy questions set in either an adult, child, mental health or learning disabilities setting.
The clinical practice tests differ from the live exams in that the practice test contains 50 clinical questions instead of 100. Each field specific clinical practice test consists of 45 generic questions and 5 questions that are specific to either adult, child, mental health or learning disabilities.
Once you have completed the practice test, you will be able to see which questions you got correct. There will also be an information button for each question in the clinical practice test that you can click on in order to see to which part of the blueprint the question is linked to.
While the practice exams include the ability to change the screen color to grayscale and invert the colors, as well as increasing and decreasing the font size, these functions are only available on the practice exams and are not available on the actual PANCE, PANRE or CAQs unless approved for these exam accommodations.
The content blueprint for each specific exam is used as a guideline when items are selected for the practice exams. However, because the practice exams have fewer items than the actual exams, the content areas contain a smaller number of items. For example, approximately 3% of the PANCE content blueprint is comprised of hematology questions. Thus, on the 120-question PANCE practice exam, there would be only 3 to 4 questions in this content area. It is important to keep in mind that performance on a small number of items is less reliable than with a larger number of items. Your performance is based on the limited number of items sampled in the practice exam and should not be used as a predictor of actual performance.
