There are definite differences not only in the way people like their wings cooked but also how they prepare them for cooking. Here I'm using double wings and cooking them whole but I know a lot of people prefer to cut the double wings in half before cooking. Depending where you buy your wings they may come with wingtips attached, most people prefer to cut these off. And if your wings didn't come with tips attached its quite probably because the wingtips are being shipped off to somewhere like Hong Kong or Vietnam where they are highly prized, along with the feet of course! The chicken industry doesn't waste much, only the cock a doodle do but no doubt they are working on that too. Incidentally, if you're in the UK and you want to make your chicken wing experience a little bit less industrialised then check out Waitrose. They sell organic chicken wings at far less of a price premium than you would pay for other parts of the bird.

MalluG I am so glad to see you blogging again. Hope all is well (what's that about home wrapped up?).
When I read chicken cry I thought it was because the spiciness would bring tears to our eyes. But a cross between curry and fry sounds perfect - will make everyone happy.
I will try it and let you know.

hi mallugirl thanks for putting another chicken recipe for me to try. I have tried many recipes from your blog which always came out well and wanted to thank you for those. i have a picture of your malabar chicken curry in my blog that i couldn't help but start after reading all these wonderful blogs around for the longest time!

Vertebrate cryptochrome homologs (CRYs) are negative regulators for the transcription/translation-based autoregulatory feedback loop of the circadian clock. In this study we identified two Cry genes in the chicken, cCry1 and cCry2, which are expressed in the pineal gland. Messenger RNA levels of both cCry1 and cCry2 displayed circadian oscillation in cultured pineal cells under light/dark and constant darkness conditions. Noticeably, their mRNA levels during the light period were significantly higher than those in the dark, indicating light-dependent up-regulation of the two Cry genes mediated by photoreceptor(s) intrinsic to the chick pineal cells. These cCRYs inhibited E-box element-dependent cBMAL1/2-cCLOCK-induced transcription, suggesting that the chick pineal circadian oscillator is composed of molecules that are functionally similar to those of mammals but are subject to light-regulation distinct from the mammalian clockwork.

So, I cook. My go-to is chicken. Peruvian Chicken. With its punch of spice and rich green cilantro sauce it can be eaten hot or cold, as a meal or straight out of the fridge at midnight when the need for food suddenly strikes you.

When you are ready to cook the chicken, preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Place the chicken on a rack above a foil lined baking sheet and put it in the oven. After 20 minutes turn the heat down to 350 degrees and continue cooking for an hour until the chicken is done. (165 degrees on an instant read thermometer). Let the chicken rest for about 20 minutes before carving.

While the chicken is cooking make the green sauce. Put all of the ingredients except the oil in a blender and run it until they are well chopped. While the motor is running slowly pour in the olive oil. It will thicken slightly. Put it in a bowl and refrigerate until you are ready to eat.

How long has she been panting? My chickens pant when they lay eggs and then sit in the nest awhile... after that they sing "the egg song": which is just a bunch of noisy squawking. It sounds like a dog has attacked them or something!

2 most nostalgic cars ever were 1 the 77 firebird of course the body was a 76 with a 77 nose clip like Smokey and the Bandit. Every time i drive my 1980 black and gold with the screaming chicken on the hood people stare and give thumbs up stop and talk wave and kids freak out over it. People tell me how there mom/dad friend bf/gf had one or they had one. I even have the Snapon Tool box Black and gold to match my Car only 1500 made im lucky to have one. The 2nd Most iconic Car would have to be the General Lee People love these Cars

Hi, chicken breast dries out really quickly, does it need a full half hour to cook? I felt that at the given heat after 10-15 minutes they were ready cooked. Does that make sense or do they soften further after 1/2 hour cooking?
Thank you for this beautiful recipe.
Kind regards

Garden Catering, based in Greenwich, is filing an intellectual property suit over its former employee who started his own eatery in Storrs. Garden Catering claims their former employee uses an insulated bag similar to their own for their chicken nuggets. Photographed on Monday, June 3, 2013.

An "intellectual property" lawsuit filed by a popular chicken nugget takeout chain based in Old Greenwich against two ex-employee brothers who launched a similar business catering to University of Connecticut students in Storrs is heading toward a trial.

Call it the Greenwich "chicken wars" -- the owners of Garden Catering, which has eight locations from Mamaroneck, N.Y., to Fairfield, are crying "fowl." They claim that Wally's Chicken Coop stole their coveted recipes, business model and other trade secrets, and they've slapped the owners, Michael Natale and Jeff Natale, both from Cos Cob, with a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New Haven.

Wally's serves chicken "bits" and side combos in a pint-sized insulated food bag in the same manner as Garden Catering, which the lawsuit said is more than a mere coincidence. Their menu also features a breakfast sandwich dubbed the "Topsy," which Garden Catering says is a blatant knock-off of its best-seller, the "Hotsy." A bacon, egg and cheese on a roll with chili and home fries, the sandwich is named after its late creator, Frank Bertino, who worked behind the counter at Garden Catering into his early 90s.

rAn excerpt from the lawsuit filed by Garden Catering:
"Wally's Chicken Coop serves its chicken 'bits" and side combos mixed in a pint-sized insulated food bag in the same manner as the 'Garden Catering' SPECIAL line of products, offers the same condiments and add-ons for the same price as the 'Garden Catering' SPECIAL line of products."
"Wally's Chicken Coop's 'Topsy' is identical to the 'Garden Catering' HOTSY, with an obviously similar sounding name."
"Wally's Chicken Coop's 'Jesse Wrap' has the same ingredients as the 'Garden Catering' Garden Wrap."

In 2005, Garden Catering sued rival Chicken Joe's -- operated by Joe Marini, a former business partner of the Carpenteris --over the use the name "High School Special" for its chicken nuggets and fries in a bag combination. The case resulted in a settlement, with Chicken Joe's retaining the name and Garden Catering going with "The Special" for its signature menu item. Marini declined to comment on the feud Monday.

From your first look, you'll know that the Crying Cloud is a different kind of brush, looking like nothing else in the webshop. Made of pure white feathers from the breast of a chicken, this brush is a specialty brush that can still find many uses.

Since the toasted rice powder expands when it sits in the liquid, I don't recommend making it too far in advance. You can have all your herbs prepped along with the items you will be serving the crying tiger with.

I make this a lot and I love to make Thai fried chicken wings and dip them into this sauce. When I do steak and verges, I like to marinate my steak in oyster sauce and fish sauce with garlic powder and coarse ground pepper. It turns out amazing!

Thanks so much Cynthia! It's true most restaurants in the states don't serve crying tiger, but it's such an easy dish to make. And yes Thai Hot is the only way to eat this dish ? Can't wait to hear what you think once you try it!

My DD1 is 3 and has chicken pox. We've been having trouble with her (usual attention seeking stuff) as DD2 arrived 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately I think DD1 is using the CP as an excuse and she's running us ragged - up and down the stairs, water, needs a wee, pillow is in the wrong place etc etc.
I bathed her this evening with bicarb, given her calpol and piriton and slathered her with eurax. She's crying hysterically and screaming (I can hear her now) - what else can I do? I just don't believe her spots are itchy, that eurax stuff is fantastic and has kept the itching at bay all day.

Any suggestions?
