Fans of Black Clover's anime have been eagerly awaiting the debut of the series' first film, set for a simultaneous release in Japanese theaters and on Netflix on March 31, 2023. With that date quickly approaching, Netflix has revealed a new poster for the film to help build anticipation.Black Clover's anime adaptation announced in 2021 that it would end with episode 170 in March of that year due to the series catching up with the manga and running out of material to adapt. The announcement of an end date was accompanied by a message about a future project that had not yet been announced. That future project was eventually revealed to be the first theatrical film for the Black Clover franchise, entitled Sword of the Wizard King, and was said to be picking up where the anime left off back in 2021.Related: Black Clover's First Movie Trailers Puts the Wizard King Center StageThe poster, included in a Tweet from the Netflix Anime account, depicts many of the series' most popular characters, including Asta, Yuno, Yami, Noelle, Nozel, Mereoleona, Fuegoleon, and Wizard King Julius. At the top left are three unknown characters who are involved in the film's plot in some way, likely as villains. Another new character, in the top right with green hair, is also shown to be wielding a rather large sword with a blade made of ice, which may well be the eponymous "Sword of the Wizard King." A brief teaser trailer shown in October suggested that the film would deal with the story of a previous Wizard King and that top-right character is believed to be the Wizard King in question, known only as "Konrath" so far, although that English spelling may be subject to change. This story is an original storyline for the film, rather than one drawn from the manga. Series creator Yuki Tabata is said to be supervising and providing character designs, but most fans expect the film won't be canonical to the manga.
