Being able to jump higher than those your competing with will help you
excel in most physical sports, especially ones like basketball or high
jump. Yet for the most part this is an area which has always been
quite hard to improve in, due to little knowledge on the actual
exercises needed to improve your muscles jumping ability.
However as sports science gets more and more advanced, exercises are
being discovered that can greatly increase ones ability to jump higher
and this is a great thing for all sports players.
So here is one such exercise which can definitely add some height to
your jumps, especially if used in conjunction with a good fitness and
cardio regime. The exercise is quite simple really, and can be done in
a number of ways. I personally do it on the stairs in my house so I
have a banister to hold onto which helps me keep my balance.
The first thing to do is find a raised surface, such as a stair or
even a brick will do. Then stand on that surface but only with the
balls of your feet, and as little of them on the surface as possible.
Your foot should be hanging off the back of the edge of raised
surface. Lower your heel till it touches the ground and then raise it
up again until you are basically standing on your tip toes on the edge
of the raised surface.
Do this repeatedly, slowly at first until you build up more confidence
and balance but you can speed it up a bit later on. At first it is
probably best to do it both feet at once, but after a while when those
leaping muscles have been strengthened then you can switch to one foot
at a time. This will definitely help you gain even more height in your
jumps.
