The following comments are just my personal opinions, feel free to disagree:
A good open source project, I guess, should be actively maintained by some core guys from the beginning, so people following the project can see it is not gonna die tomorrow.
Blog posts, documents and tutorials etc. are essential to convert people from other domains to the project.(e.g. a tutorial which teaches how to convert a PhoneGap app in real world to Julia, so people will see the differences straight away).
Good luck with this project and I am keen to see the bright future of it.
