I just installed Julia Studio for experimenting some. It comes with
its own version of julia, which is very old. I tried to change that to
the one I have installed
(Lubuntu, from the ubuntu PPA juliannightlies). J Studio seems to find that
(only problem is the name change from julia-release-basic to
julia-basic, solved that by a symlink). But then upstart gives the
error message:

ERROR: AbstractKind not defined

in include at boot.jl:238

Is tnere a way to solve this, or must I wait fopr Julia Studio coming
with some newer julia?

I recently compiled it for Debian and made only one change to make it work

I needed to go to the Julia tab of options and use this path to the binaries:

    /home/john/Julia/julia/usr

Hi Kjetil,

We've not been building Julia Studio linux distributions lately.  Why?  We have relatively few Linux downloads, and besides, Linux users prefer to compile for source, right?  Well that has been our logic until now.

We'll start releasing Linux builds with future releases.  In the mean time, Wes is working on a Julia 0.4.2 build (with Julia 0.2rc2) as I type this.  Once it has been posted to the downloads site we'll let you know.  I understand it will be easier to point Julia Studio to a different version of Julia once this has been accomplished.

Cheers,

Stu

Forgot to post, but we pushed out an update last week. It came with Julia-rc2, and we'll update again relatively soon, but in the meantime you should be able to point at a newer build just fine now.

Cheers
