Hi all,

I've been messing around with the JuliaWebServer, and although I fixed
the first bug (which was just a type), I ran into a slew of additional
bugs relating to Julia's regex engine. Julia may have made
significant changes to how it returns regex matches, and that's broken
JuliaWebServer. But I've not been able to confirm it or fix the
problem.

Has anyone gotten the webserver to work? As it turns out (and one of
you pointed this out earlier), it also has a pretty involved template
engine -- must have taken some effort to make.

It would be absolutely great if one of us could convince chzyer, who
wrote this web server, to join our efforts. However, his website is
entirely in Chinese, so I'm not sure how much English he speaks. In
any case, unless one of you speaks Chinese, I'll go ahead and try to
contact him tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I'm making more progress on learning Julia. It's a really
cool language, and although it's clearly still pre-beta, I'm very
happy with what I'm seeing.

I spent so much time trying to debug the web server and getting
familiar with Julia's regular expressions, which being Perl-Compatible
are somewhat different from Python's, that I didn't get a chance to do
the todo list. I'll try to put that together tomorrow.

I ran into the same issue. It appears that the Julia regex engine changed and now the Julia web server is throwing errors on replace etc. contacting the author sea like a good first step.

Thanks for your efforts.

I don't speak Chinese, but know a few people who do, including Greg Brown's wife Jia who would probably be happy to help translate some, and is learning programming herself...

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the suggestion. Good to know, that may come in handy. By
all means, ask Jia to join us if she's interested. And if you're
talking about the rubyist Greg Brown, then obviously we'd love to have
his support as well, if he's interested in Julia. Or any other Greg
Brown (I'm just guessing that's the Greg Brown you're talking about).

But with regard specifically to chyzer, author of the JuliaWebServer,
you probably saw that he's already joined us, and luckily for us he
speaks English.

Thanks again,

Eric
