I'm going to take a crack at the following projects:

1) PostgreSQL support within Julia (analogous to RPostgreSQL)
2) Julia as a PostgeSQL procedural language

This will be a new experience for me, and I'm doing it primarily
as a learning experience and to (hopefully) lay a foundation for
making a meaningful contribution to the open source community
in the future.

Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Gallant has a season ticket. Goofus complains about his team on the internet.

Cool. Good luck and don't hesitate to chime in with questions or problems. At the same time, I wonder if we should aim for a more generic database support interface?

We definitely need a DBI style interface in the long run. But I think we need DataFrames beforehand.

I know that there are some temporal-data dataseries which "look like" normal databases but are optimised for temporal queries/processing. It would certainly be nice if the "within-Julia mechanisms" for using databases made it possible to efficiently use a database of this type.

This is fantastic. At least for 1), is there some intermediate portability layer that can allow us to use any database for querying?
