Dear all,

As supported by Julia developers in another thread, we are organizing quantum related library projects under the Julia umbrella organization, JuliaQ. A few important steps have been done over the last week, and we are ready to receive more JuliaQ developers and community projects for the initiative stage. Now, under discussion:

Our libraries are likely to reach the foundations of

  • Basic representations of quantum states and operations;
  • Quantum chemistry;
  • Quantum Lindblad dynamics and open quantum systems;
  • Quantum tensor network (matrix product states) and many-body physics;
  • Quantum information and computation;
  • Quantum measurement and control...
More will come depending on our members and the Julia community. You are welcome to join us through our website at http://juliaq.github.io/. Thank you for your contributions!

Regards,
Qi and JuliaQ fellows

I think it might be a good idea to call the org JuliaQuantum rather than JuliaQ. I understand the desire for brevity, but think that JuliaQ is basically uninterpretable.

I did give JuliaQuantum as an option for the org name, but more votes for JuliaQ from the org's initiative members when we decided... We will certainly be able to make a switch if more supports come. Thank you, John.

I agree with John – the cultural tendency in the Julia project as a whole is for clear, obvious names like JuliaQuantum rather than JuliaQ. You don't have to type org names very often.

Issue regarding the org's name opened as an issue here: https://github.com/JuliaQ/JuliaQ.github.io/issues/5. I will do the collection shortly. Thanks.

So, org name changed to JuliaQuantum. LInks are broken, I repost the correct message as below:

Cool stuff. Hope Blake Johnson has seen this, AFAIK he has written most quantum Julia code so far (e.g. https://github.com/BBN-Q )

Good catch. Yes, he is actually in the org :)
