GSOC'14: Matrix Functions Implementation

Hi, 

I'm Dhruva and I'm interested in implementing Fretchet Derivatives via use of various algortihms, as discussed in Issue #5840. However since requirement here is to solve it in parallel, my question is that whether all given algorithms are parallelizable. And if they are not, can serial version be implemented.  

I have submitted the rough draft at melange, so if anybody can take a look at it and give me some pointers to improve proposal.
