We were in talks with Kinshuk from OSS cube for organizing an OSS camp( http://osscamp.in/ ) in our university. OSS camp is a big event for spreading Open Source and it would be very useful for our university if it happens. We are still discussing about the possibilities and on the content of the camp
- Having Hackahons where we contribute, say we fix up a goal and all the people in the room are working on the goal.. and in the process it also spark off discussions. ( eg say we contribute 200 articles, or we translate drupal module, or we solve this bug etc )
- Having discussion on varied topics.. more of discussion and less of sessions .
- The event should cover the entire spectrum, from newbies to experts. We want our event to be successful and have an end result where we can showcase our work, where we CONTRIBUTE !
- If the content is good, and we have a good footfall planned, we can have sessions on Android, Java etc and get sponsors like Google and SUN for it, but the Content is the key in this thing.
these are just the initial discussions, a very vague idea of what we want the camp to be like.. we would be having a meeting today at 9 pm on the IRC. ( channel i would let u know )
OSS camp is a big event, and i want all of u to contribute, give in your ideas, problems you think that we would occur related to college or the camp, suggestions related on organizing the event.
Lets make it work people, open source is literally dying in our college now.
