TheFamily Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP) is a public assistance program that provides financial aid for children in their own homes who are in need because they do not have sufficient financial support from parents. The overall goal of FITAP is to decrease the long-term dependency on public assistance by promoting job preparation and work. Public assistance is no longer a lifetime benefit but an opportunity to become independent after a financial crisis.

FITAP is authorized by the Social Security Act as amended by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. Effective January 1997 FITAP is funded by the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Block Grant. The Department of Health and Human Services is the federal agency responsible for its administration. The program is administered at the state level by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

The person who receives the benefits must notify DCFS of any changes in address, residence, living arrangements, and income according to the requirements of the reporting system to which they are assigned.

If you believe the action on your case is not correct, or that a decision was not rendered on your application with reasonable promptness, you may request and obtain a fair hearing. The local office will present the evidence on which its decision was made, and you will be expected to present evidence to support your claim at the hearing.

If you wish to request a fair hearing, you should follow the instructions on the back of the notice you receive from the agency or contact the local office. Requests for fair hearings are mailed to the DCFS Bureau of Appeals, P. O. Box 2944, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70821. The request must be made within 30 days after the local office decision.

If you are a current FITAP recipient, please include your full name as it appears in our records, all of your contact information and your case identification number (the smaller number below the 16-digit number on the front of your EBT card).

If you are not a current FITAP recipient, please include your full name as it appears in our records, all of your contact information, your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Cash benefits are posted to recipient accounts during the first five days of the month. Recipient benefits are accessible by 5:00 a.m. on the morning after they are posted. Benefits are posted on the same date every month, regardless of the day of the week. Holidays and weekends do not affect the date of benefit availability.

In addition to the transaction fee of $2.00 for each cash withdrawal which is assessed at all ATMs, a surcharge fee may also be assessed. A surcharge is the amount some ATMs charge you each time you withdraw your cash benefits, and this surcharge is deducted from your available balance. The following list of surcharge-free ATM owners provide you access to your cash benefits without being surcharged by the ATM:

The agency relies on retailers and the public to report the misuse of benefits. Individuals are encouraged to call DCFS' toll-free hotline at 1-888-LAHELP-U (1-888-524-3578) and select option 7 from the main menu or by filling out the online form.

Independence Day can be watched online, but the sci-fi movie is not currently available on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Released in 1996, the Roland Emmerich film isn't the typical Fourth of July-themed holiday movie. Starring Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman, the title went on to become the highest-grossing movie of 1996. It also caused a resurgence in sci-fi films in the mid to late '90s with its focus on an alien invasion.

Independence Day follows the fallout after an alien race attacks countries around the globe, including many U.S. cities. President Thomas J. Whitmore (Pullman) is forced to put together what resources he has left to launch a counterattack. David Levinson (Goldblum), an MIT satellite technician, becomes a key ally as he figures out a way to deactivate the aliens' shields to target the mothership. In order to do so, the team needs help from a skilled pilot, Captain Steven Hiller (Smith). It just so happens that the key counterattack takes place on the Fourth of July.

20 years after the release of Independence Day, a sequel was officially released. Emmerich returned to direct Independence Day: Resurgence, which also featured the return of cast members like Goldblum and Pullman. Though it was a box-office bomb, it hasn't tarnished the legacy of the original film. In fact, Independence Day is still viewed as a must-watch each July. Unfortunately, it won't be found included in the most popular streaming services.

Independence Day isn't currently included in U.S. subscriptions for Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. The fact that the big streaming services don't have the rights to one of the biggest movies from the '90s may come as a surprise. The film aired on Starz for a while, and cable networks often air the title around the Fourth of July classic.

As of December 2020, Independence Day became available on HBO Max. The title is also accessible to subscribers of HBO as well as a subscription to HBO's premium content through Amazon. There are, however, a few other options for those looking to stream the film. Those in Canada with an interest in Independence Day will find it currently streaming on Disney+ based on 20th Century Fox films now falling under Disney's umbrella.

Independence Day is available to rent and purchased on a number of popular platforms and streaming services. For $3.99, the HD version of the movie can be rented through Google Play, YouTube, Redbox, Microsoft, and Fandango Now. The 4K option costs the same price on Apple TV, Amazon, Vudu, and DirecTV. For those interested in permanently owning the beloved 4th of July movie, there are multiple purchasing options. Redbox offers a $13.99 price tag for HD, whereas the other services mentioned come in at $14.99. The group consisting of Apple TV, Amazon, Vudu, and DirecTV also has a 4K availability at the same cost. With the methods mentioned above, there are plenty of feasible ways to catch Independence Day.

Preamble

Members of the Society of Professional Journalists believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy. Ethical journalism strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough. An ethical journalist acts with integrity.

The Society declares these four principles as the foundation of ethical journalism and encourages their use in its practice by all people in all media.

Seek Truth and

Report It

Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair. Journalists should be honest and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.

Journalists should:

The SPJ Code of Ethics is a statement of abiding principles supported by explanations and position papers that address changing journalistic practices. It is not a set of rules, rather a guide that encourages all who engage in journalism to take responsibility for the information they provide, regardless of medium. The code should be read as a whole; individual principles should not be taken out of context. It is not, nor can it be under the First Amendment, legally enforceable.

Sigma Delta Chi's first Code of Ethics was borrowed from the American Society of Newspaper Editors in 1926. In 1973, Sigma Delta Chi wrote its own code, which was revised in 1984, 1987, 1996 and 2014.

The committee that revised the Society’s Code of Ethics in 2014 recognized the need to provide additional information and commentary about the Code’s four overarching values and 35 individual principles. This online version of the Code includes dozens of links that provide additional context, especially regarding ethical journalism practices in the context of new technology and the evolving cultural landscape.

These links are not part of the Code, and they will change as more new resources are found and older resources become obsolete.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Producer Norman Lear and Internet entrepreneur David Hayden were the successful online bidders for a rare, original printing of the Declaration of Independence, for which they paid a record $8.1 million.

Lear and Hayden, who founded Critical Path in February 1997 and was its chairman, president and chief executive officer from inception until November 1998, said they plan to take the document on tour to schools and libraries. "It will belong to the American people," Lear said.
