bugs I'v found in 1.8.8 beta:
* timeout: lock screen is stil not functional properly. it sometimes
activates as in setup, and sometimes right away, or not at all.
sometimes it's also not locked when booted (*shiver*).

* app control: functions great, but it's still in function if I use
widget to "user - OFF". i.e. juicedefender should no longer control
stuff, but it still controls apn when going into apps in the app list
in juicedefender.

* sometimes the wireless is not turned on (i.e. jd doesn't try to turn
it on) when home. I'v only one wireless zone (home), and usually
works. another strange thing is that it still sometimes try to check
wireless when far away from home (but ofc it turns it off when it
doesnt find it). can't you store which antennaes I'm connected to when
I'm connected to certain wireless. so after some training (i.e.
hopefully finding all antennaes after some weeks) it would only try to
connect wireless when connected to those anntennaes. That should force
it to not even try to turn wireless on when connected to some other
antennaes.

btw, I'm on HTC Desire, 1.21, rooted (Pays 1.5 ROM).
Love your app, and I biught ultimatejuice also

I've had instances of wi-fi not enabling as well in a known wi-fi
location. When this happens it also seems to disable it again after a
short while if I enable manually. At first I wasn't sure if it was
something else causing it so want to do a bit more testing, but
curious that John has mentioned a similar problem.

Incidentally, I think that is the way Location works John. Learning
over time which cells the wi-fi connection is available in. During the
learning period wi-fi will be turned on temporarily to see if the AP
is available. When you 'View Locations' the distance and % will change
(increase) until JD has an accurate enough picture of the range.

Another minor thing (maybe just cosmetic). When I first open JD I have
no sync-like icon in the top right of the JD screen (not the
notification bar). If I make any setting change then it appears. What
does this icon indicate? It's not clickable on my phone (HTC Legend
2.1), is it supposed to do something?

@ac75 The sync icon has been there for several builds. I believe it is used that help JD make the changes apply faster. In older builds it would take about 6-8 seconds for changes to apply. With the sync icon they are applied upon exit of JD. I could be wrong but that's what I think its doing.

Where was 1.8.8 released? In this group?

I can't seem to find it.

Thanks!

1.8.8 was released through the app store some time ago.

other bug:
apps profile: It doesn't list my "robodefense" which i'v installed
with an apk installer. I'd like apn to be turned off when I'm playing
it, but can't add it to JD's app list.

Oh, it was a market release. Ahh thanks for the info.

I remember now. I tried it for a day or so and reverted back to an
older beta version.

Thanks for your help!

@John: thanks! I encourage you to submit the bugs at the new feedback
forum: http://feedback.latedroid.com (I need to get stuff off my
overloaded brain)
Since they apply to the Market release anyway, the public forum is ok.
About robodefense: JD only lists apps with the 'internet' permission -
my guess is that robodefense doesn't need it.

Location: believe it or not, it's *still* being worked on and tweaked;
hopefully the v2.x builds will see an improvement. The aim is to have
WiFi correctly enabled 100% of the times (after the training is done),
but the odd brief activation when away is not completely avoidable.

The 'sync' icon: yep, it's just a visual indicator that shows up when
JD will 'refresh' its service upon exit (i.e. after some settings have
been changed); previously this happened always, causing unnecessary
CPU usage if the UI was opened to check the log, for example.
The icon is indeed somewhat confusing, so I'm open to suggestions!

At the end my question is if it is needed to show that such an
internal "settings refresh" will occur. The only sense it would be
needed is if I have a chance to "redo" all the channges so that the
settings will not be changed. But as long as I can not "reset" this
change-icon my question is if it's needed that it is displayed at
all ... maybe jjust a log entry on refresh is enough?

You're 100% right :)
I probably added it in the first place for my own debug purposes. So,
would anyone like an 'Undo' icon in its place, or should I just remove
it?

I would vote for removing it ... The Ui and the changes are not that
complex that I wouldn't remind them ;-)
