melanzane alla parmigiana here: http://groups.google.com/group/juicedefender/web/JuiceDefender179.apk
(sorry for the ungoogly redirects - direct links apparently remain
valid for just about one minute)

- new location algorithm!
- fixed rare FC
- fixed Toggle mobile data widget bug
- debug logging now optional

First thing to do: 'help', 'enable debug logging'.

You're encouraged to stress-test Location - it's not strictly
necessary to 'clear known locations' but it's probably a good idea.

Location will soon enough learn about your Access Points. You'll see
various 'Updated location for network blahblah: lat, long (XXX/YYY m)'
entries in the log; the XXX and YYY are the 'inside' and 'outside'
distances. The 'inside' radius will grow as Location learns of
'places' where WiFi turns out to be working (keep in mind it uses the
very coarse cell location, so it might become rather large). The
'outside' radius will shrink on the opposite rule. In between, there's
the 'maybe' area - which optimally should eventually be reduced to a
thin 'ring' (currently it has a lower bound of 100m of thickness).
(Also, latitude and longitude will be progressively tweaked as well,
and they will *not* necessarily converge towards your AP; instead
it'll be the optimal center point for the various cell-based
locations)

If you see any of this happening (in order of decreasing importance):
- WiFi failing to get enabled when you're close enough to your AP
(forcing you to a manual enable)
- WiFi getting briefly enabled even if you're, say, 10 miles away from
your AP
- WiFi getting briefly enabled every time while at a certain not-so-
distant (but distant enough) place, even after *extensive training*

please do this:
- open JD, 'help', 'send feedback'
- change the subject line to something like "JD Location - didn't
enable wifi, FAIL!!!11!"
- briefly describe the situation either on this thread mentioning your
subject line, in the log email itself, or both for bonus points :)

Can you doublecheck the file? Phone is whining that its not an apk.
Thanks!

And I did try twice :)

I just installed it, and ran setup successfully without issue.

I have noticed that if gps is disabled, no attempt to ever toggle it
to better fix location seems to be made. This does seem to affect the
location a bit (although slide is still gone and setting is now >
10000m). Even when gps is enabled, location seems still be buggy for
wifi with a strong preference for cdma data over wifi.

Droid Incredible, VZW.

For the second time, like yesterday, sending you the log directly from
the help section of JD caused JD to stop functioning (without FC). I
had to reboot the phone to get back a normally functioning JD.
I'm with a 2.1 routed Desire

It seems that although I have notifications on, on phone reboot, it
does not add a notification icon. I have to open Juicedefender
manually every time after the reboot to get the notification icon.

Yep got it to work the net time. However the install hung up on the
AOSP portion, when it finally finished it said it installed but with
errors or not working. Tried the market version after that and it
didn't work at all, wouldn't save settings when closing the main
window.

Back on 1.7.4 for right now. What is the AOSP helper app and why is it
such a little pita?

@dfarley: indeed JD doesn't use GPS even if it's enabled (it consumes
battery!) - once Location works properly, you won't miss its precision
anyway :)

@Surfinette: thanks, fixed that little nasty bug :)

@decrypt: weird, it works fine on both my Magic and N1... what's your ROM?

@psiu: the AOSP helper is currently only used for 3g/2g toggling on CM
ROMs. It seems you probably need a full uninstall before installing
the most recent build (1.8.2 coming right away!)
