Hi everyone,

Just some quick notes to give you an outline of our experience of integrating JUICED into Talis Aspire.

You can see it working by following this link:

http://lists.broadminsteruniversity.org/items/demo-97351938-9960-B604-C11B-6F2A0BC6B09C.html (this is under development so may yo-yo a bit as I enable/disable JUICE)

JUICE is obviously inserting the Alternative Sources bar at the bottom of the page, but I've written an eBay extension that inserts the eBay auctions link below the Amazon pricing (the app does Amazon server side) - you may need to wait a few sections for eBay to appear as sometimes their API takes a little while to source the data.

I'm now working on integrating JohnSmiths campus bookstores extension to bring pricing in from there too, and I'm also planning to do AbeBooks too (had to email them to get on their affiliate programme - old school).

One observation is that we need to re-factor JUICED to work in no conflict mode, Aspire also makes use of prototype, which JUICE breaks by hijacking the $ variable.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for this.

Yes running JQuery in noconflict mod is an issue (or will be when I have created one).  A re-factor to do this is high on my priority list - my only issue being how to have something that doesn't break sites that use jQuery already and won't want the '$' un-hijacked.

Could you offer two modes - standard as is now, and an option to call juice.noConflict() in initialization to run in compatibility mode?
