Dear Members,

Kindly find attached the minutes for our last meeting.

I apologise for the late submission, I have been clearing my desk as I am on my way out.

Today is my last day of work, so this email address will no longer be active. But I believe my yahoo mail

is connected to the Juhudi account.

As of today evening, I am declared unemployed.

The next venue for the meeting was not agreed on in the meeting, so any member who is interested can take

This chance to host us.

Regards,

Victoria

Thanks Vicky, Members need to confirm their commitment to the chama and state the last time that they paid up their subscription as we await the financials. We also need to vote on the issue of winding up the goat project. It would help if we could have figures showing why the goat project is not economically viable so that members can make an informed choice. So far members who have confirmed their commitment to the chama are Benjamin, Nyokabi, Isaac, Mercy, Vicky, Moses, Sam/ Carol, Bob, Cathy and Beth. We are still waiting on Beryl and Alfred.

Moving forward we need members to understand that most of the money that has been contributed up to this point is either tied down in the Land at Luwero or in the goat project and we have also made several losses with the two projects we have so far engaged in on the farm (Maize and Tomatoes). So let it be noted that unfortunately that we will be sharing in the losses for those who were still members when we engaged in the projects. These are the points that we need to note if we plan on exiting.

I would like to extend my get well wishes to Beryl who has been ailing for a while now. I pray that you find comfort in the fact that health is your portion as a child of God and that is what I've been praying for for you. Thanks for your effort as the Treasurer in keeping our finances up to date. I appreciate that its not easy juggling all those things as one person.

On the issue on meetings. Now that we do not have any other activity apart from the contributions that we are pooling for future investments, do we have to keep on having monthly meetings to discuss the same issues over and over. My suggestion is that we move the meetings to every two months unless we have something urgent and substantial to discuss which requires us to call a meeting.

Blessings
Jami.

Dear Members,

Hope you are all well. Vicky, thank you for the minutes, you mentioned you were officially un-employed, wish you well in the search for another job as well as the relocation. But I think Mr. Okwaro can happily fully employ you - he's a happy man now.

Mme Chairperson, you have raised pertinent issues, first, the economic viability of the goat project. The last time I checked, the Vet had listed a total of 13kids (goats and lambs), the problem with them grazing in people's gardens was purely an employee issue coz Peter seems to have memory problems - at least to me! No matter how many times he's told to tether the goats in times like these when there are many gardens around (they have ropes in their necks 24-7) he still wants to graze in one place, around the living quarters forever! He therefore ends up running over 1000km trying to keep them constricted in an area they have over-grazed even with all the nutritious grasslands down the valley. Goats are a long term venture, personally I think with 30 goats making 40 after 1year irrespective of the mortality, is not bad - the numbers, I don't have a well valued economic opinion now.

On commitment to Chama; the listed committed members are good enough, chama is still alive.

Meetings, I support the idea of meeting bi-monthly with special meetings for projects or occasions that may not wait for the full two month period. We offer to host the next meeting, this month or next month depending on when members decide to meet.

Have a blessed weekend.

Bob

Thanks Bob for your response. About the goats, i believe they have been performing quite well since you got the male goat. It is my view that we have two choices. To increase on the number of females plus one male so that production is high and we can cover our monthly costs and make a profit or like it had been suggested at the previous meeting sell off the goats. We however need someone to volunteer and do the numbers for us so that members can make an informed decision. For us to cover our costs and make a profit we need at least 4 kids per month meaning we need 24 female goats since each goat can give birth twice a year. We currently have 16 adult female goats and 1 he-goat meaning we would need to add 8 female goats and 1 he-goat. Its true working with Peter can be quite a challenge and requires a lot of patience but the goats have been doing well

We need to hear from the rest of the members.

Blessings
Jami.

Dear all,
please let us all vote on email whether we are continuing with our monthly meetings or we move to meeting once every two months.

On my part, I'm happy with the monthly meeting coz apart from discussing the formal chama agenda, we have fun being together and I believe it fosters our friendships. I love our monthly meetings, and worry that we may start drifting apart as a group if we reduce to once every two months. But that is just my humble opinion and I'll flow with the majority decision.

Whether we are meeting this month or next month, our home is open to host you all, and we look forward to hanging out with you.

Please do not forget to confirm if you will be physically present at the meeting so that we can prepare accordingly.

Regards,
Cathy

I suggest we meet once the financials are ready and discuss subsequent meetings then.

How much are the goats going for? I have someone who is interested in all of them at 4.7m. She can pick them up mid next month. Anyone with a better offer/ idea?

I will not make it for tomorrows meeting- in case its still on.

Hi guys,
I will be absent with apology, but second Nyoabi's idea of meeting when fiances are in order (PS: my September and October contributions have been made, and I will forward slips ASAP).

Though absent most of the time, I am with Carol for meetings to be held once in two months, unless there is special need e.g a project, etc. Guys can still hang out outside chama. In fact I think it's better that way so that people meet for fun only.

Best,

Beth Murugi

Hi guys,

I agree that we should probably meet once financials are in order but just incase there is a meeting tomorrow I will not be in a position to attend.

Mercy.

Dear all,
With five votes to one for postponing this month's meeting, this is to confirm that we shall not have a meeting today.

Let's meet once th financials are ready.
