Future Release Predictions

It is impossible to give a definite time for future releases of Joomla 1.6.  Our best "guess" for the availability of future versions is late December 2009 for Beta 1 and mid-to-late first-quarter of 2010 for the first stable version.  The ability to deliver at these times is directly proportional to the amount of volunteer help the project receives.

Dear Team,

What version are we aiming for, as that will determine the pace at which we localize.

Very good point...  it seems to me we should focus on the upcoming v1.6     surely anyone wanting to do a new website on Joomla would want the latest version?   I do not know how many packages will remain in tact from v1.5  to v1.6

what do you folks think?

for localization we should focus on the next release as we will have
time do it before the release, and people will have a new release with
the swahili support.

Hi all,
Have been offline for a while but following all dialogue, happy to see interested JUGS on Joomla localization,
I strongly suggest we go for v1.6, the technology is changing too fast and lets change accordingly!

Dear Team,

Denny, did you manage to get the JUG Columbia to upload the files that we can work on. Or if they can send use the scripts/instructions I can  put it on Tri Labs server.

I set up a v 1.6 alpha site at  www.jugcam.org/swl10n    we can use that for localization...   I know how to install the localization tool on version 1.5   but not on v1.6

What is next?

Tim
