Friends
I am very excited for JUGTZ, I think we are going to do some great things
for Tanzania and while helping ourselves to be better at web development.
Please put your name forth with a short description of your abilities in
the post, if you may be interested in leading a section for JUGTZ. At
present I would suggest that those sections that require face to face
presence should go to members in or near Dar so they can meet, eventually
we should establish groups in other large Tanzanian cities to be focus on
inclusive development.
Please note that the positions are till April 2010 on an interim basis.
From that point we will hold fair elections for the posts where members can
petition based on merit.
****For the post of President, Vice President and Secretary we seek matured
leaders who may or may not be accomplished in ICT, but who know how to
lead, encourage and invigorate.
----------------------
In the future I think it is fair to predict that Tanzania will need more
websites and more developers, so JUGTZ comes in at a good time positioned
in front of the impending ICT increases with cheaper internet,
proliferation of devices and greater interest in ICT development.
The Google document you are invited to is the makings of a leadership team
which will help to invigorate JUGTZ to partake in developments. I am the
founder of JUG Cambodia
www.jugcam.org from October 2007, we went for two
years without a leadership committee such as this, over the past two months
I designed a committee very similar to this one and so far it has been a
great success. When I learned I would be stationed in Tanzania, I quickly
looked for a JUG in Tanzania, not finding one I consulted my good friend
Enahoro and said I would start one. He passed me on to Richard Kazimoto.
Richard started the Facebook version of our group and we are up to some 500
members there. On the google groups side we have over 50 members. We will
continue to use the Facebook group to recruit members but most of the
organizational work and information sharing will be done on the mailing
list/google group.
Let’s work together to make this a leading Tanzanian group that helps push
your great nation closer to the goal of a knowledge based society.
Cheers
J Tim Denny, PhD
