Dear Members,

How are you all? I was pocking around in the JamiiForum and I found a
post about this group. Founder of the group good work.

I was thinking if we could localise the Joomla core engine to
Kiswahili to make it easier for the users it will be a good idea. I
can send in the glossary we have been using for the localization of
Firefox.

Its an idea.

Great ...  I met with two JUGTZ members in Dar a few weeks ago and localization was one of the big topics...   I can set up an online localization server... but I do not know much about downloading the .ini files, and uploading them when done...   I have a few friends who can offer ideas on that...

But anyhow....yes...  let's make localization to swahili a flagship effort of JUGTZ...

Dear Denny,

That will be a good idea.I spent a good part of this morning reading
Joomla Wiki on languages, http://docs.joomla.org/Category:Languages.
As it turns out its so that hard to localize Joomla. It can be done. I
would not mind heading this one and have the team that localized
Firefox assist us on this one.

For now lets have the structure in place and lets get rolling. The
issue is that you must allow translators to work offline for it to
move fast. We can also contact Dr Juma Lungo of Zalongwa/FreeCode
Tanzania as he and his team have localized a vtiger CRM, so he could
have more terminologies than we have and it will be a good idea to
have both glossaries as we do this.

Looking forward to making this happen.

thanks for the response...  I'll get on setting up the online server for the task...   I can ask some of our www.jugcam.org  localizers for help in getting the ini files downloaded and the method of uploading them to the online server to sync translations.

Cheers

Tim

That is really very nice. We will actively participate in the localisation of our beloved language, KISWAHILI. This will further make mkulima wa nyanya to have his/her own joomla site marketing his/her tomatoes. It is a good move toward KILIMO KWANZA.

I think it is better if we have some sort of action plan which will guide us on how to make this a real thing.

Big up guys.

Dear all,

Can anybody outline the advantage of “localizing” Joomla?
