IMHO Google, with Android, was the one company keeping Java relevant. Not just relevant, but also ensuring that it would play a role going forward. Increasingly we are switching to mobile devices, with data available anytime, anywhere.  With Android Java was going to be part of that future. With Oracles actions I believe Java will no longer form part of that future.

I see Java becoming the language of choice for those places that are likely to also use Oracle databases: large conservative organisations. Java is now the new Cobol. So there will be lots of profitable work in this area for quite some time to come. But if you like working with mobile devices, open source code, being at the cutting edge of software, and launching new technology start-ups, invest in some other language and platform.

My 2c worth.

in my opinion, we can create anything using our own license, and run

from local mobile phone brand, they said JavaME is US$ 1 / phone

and JavaME devices is to expensive for low end phone, we need another
way, MTK the biggst chipset provider propose VRE , another alternatif
that lighter than JavaME and can be deploy in low end phone.

but I dunno, how legal is using VRE, and will we effected with this


Our role here, as JC and JUG leader, may be we need to do someting,
most of us may be dont care about business and want to become fulltime
programmer, but I own a Java company, now lead several relationship
with several Java company in another country, and I am also called
like a Java promotor, one of the most commited here, but this ORacle
vs Google case, make me unsecure using any technology

because we are not as big as oracle, but we need a guarrantee using
this kind of technology.

but I still dunno, will we are also safe using Ruby, Python, and what
kind of restriction using Java.

I am personally dont want to spend my time this locking model, and
annoyong, esp bring another programemr to join,

We have program to teach kids here (u can see my old post), and i dont
want to bring them to this area, this is amazingly bad for my personal
mindset and believe.




I have a commited for my personal brand development, that wont bring
anyone to this lock model. That why i am not using .NET or any
propiertary stuff.


any idea for this?
