Subject: IMPORTANT GROUND INSTRUCTIONS for your game this weekend

CricBay - The Largest Cricket League in San Francisco Bay Area

Teams playing at Sigman Field (Fremont) and Umpires,

  • You MUST follow the guidelines below to mark the crease at both batting and bowling end. It is mandatory to use the method below and no other alternatives are allowed.
  • Home team please make sure that you carry ropes (flat ones are the best, if not small round white will do) as shown in the Pics below. You can get these from Home Depot, Michaels or Walmart etc. Refer to Pic2/Pic3/Pic4 as guideline on how to use this rope to mark the batting and bowling crease. You can use some small weights to hold the rope in place at the ends (refer pic 3 for illustration). On the batting crease, we suggest to keep the area where the batsman stand to be clear of the rope (refer Pic2 for illustration), so that the there is no obstruction during batting. The wide markers can be made using small round white rope (or you can use the traditional way with some Colored Gatorade bottle caps that is clearly visible for umpires). Umpires may have to adjust the markers often (similar to how we re-draw the crease in a regular baseball field) as it may move during the play, especially at the bowling crease.

Please *do-not* use any kind of *tapes/adhesive/Nails* to mark the crease or anchor the ropes as using them will damage the field and will result in us losing this ground. If that happens than the teams who played there last will be responsible for any kind of fines that may incur.

  • For AM games the community center staff will open the gates at ~8:45-9am. So please be patient and don't call the volunteers asking about the gates being locked when you reach the field. If the gates are not opened past 9am (highly unlikely) then please go to the community center located next to the field and ask the staff to open it for you, please keep the permit handy in case they ask for it. Also setup the ground and start the game as soon as the gates open such that you can finish the game by 12PM.

As always if you have questions, please direct them to CoLA.

Thanks,

COLA
