Hi,

We are using Juggernaut for a Chat program. I had a couple of questions:
1) If someone has multiple tabs open in their browser, we are finding that the browser crashes a LOT. This ONLY happens when juggernaut is running. Has anyone else faced such problems?

2) Is anyone using Juggernaut in production? How is scaling? Any problems or gotchas?

3) Any tips?

Thanks in advance,
MNK

If the browser crashes it is obviously a browser/flash bug.
The major problem with Juggernaut is the memory leaks. They are so
obvious that I have to restart the juggernaut server every hour.
Overall, in my case, the juggernaut version of the chat is better than
the ajax one.

Hi all,

Restarting the juggernaut server every hour? That sounds very wrong:
I have a juggernaut server that has been up for 1 year, and I only
had a few hours of downtime, due to a border case bug that was
triggered by some rare malformed network packets. (bug found,
corrected, patch submitted and integrated).

Apart for that 1 time bug, the juggernaut server has been rock
solid for me.

PS: typical traffic for my site: around a dozen clients connected,
with a few thousand messages exchanged over juggernaut daily.

Sadly I do not have enough time to dig into it so I just picked the
quickest 'solution'.
There are about 20k messages a day on the chat, and if I left juggernaut
for a day without restarting it, it would go up to 1GB of RAM.
There are probably around 500 - 1k clients a day that connect/reconnect
multiple times.

WOW!
Is anyone else facing similar problems? That's crazy!

I see a similar-but-different problem where if you have Juggernaut connected with Firefox, shut down the Juggernaut server and then hit "back" in the browser, you get a crash. It may require multiple tabs as well -- I've *always* got multiple tabs open, so I have no idea if that's a requirement for the bug :-)

However, I only see it when debugging, and thus bringing the server constantly up and down. So it's less of a problem for the deployed site.

So does anyone have any tips on how to get a stable production-worthy Juggernaut server?
