Isuppose the default font setting for Mac used by qt toolkit still stays with "AppleGothic". Can you change the default Korean font setting (for all Mac) from "AppleGothic" to "AppleSDGothicNeo"? "AppleGothic" may stay but the preference should be lowered I believe.

Thank you. After little bit of study, Now I can see Koreans. I installed kmscon and ttf-dejevu. Since ttf-nanum is not available from AUR, I downloaded from internet and put into /usr/share/fonts. I ran fc-cache. On console, I can read Korean. But somehow, Koreans letters break inside apps such as nana, w3m and emacs. Is there anything I am missing?

After downloading it and add to the Font Asset Creator and setting ASCII Extended Character Set, it does not include the glyphs. It says there is missing 78 characters from 306.

After talking to the team, it seems Hindi language is not fully supported yet in TextMeshPro. However, there is some Unity asset store plugins compatible with TextMeshPro that you can use. Alternatively, you can try using the ITextPreprocessor interface to render the text correctly.

With regard to displaying korean font:I'm noticing when I use arial, it's defaulting to sans-serif, which is of course different on Mac and Windows. I'm having a hard time finding information about this on the "internets". I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me a list of fonts that would work on both Mac and Windows for Korean without needing to embed a font.
Using sans-serif means using a browser-dependent sans-serif font. It is of little use here. Instead, list down a set of fonts known to contain the characters you need. You can hardly expect to find a single font for the purpose that would be available on all computers, unless you find a font you can use as a downloadable font (web font) via @font-face.
According to _of_Microsoft_Windows_fonts, there are fonts that are preinstalled on Windows, or at least shipped with it, containing Korean characters: Batang, Dotum, Gulim, Gungsuh, Malgun Gothic (no hanja). Probably none of them is present in all versions of Windows, and probably at least one of them is available in reasonably modern versions of Windows. But they are rather different.
You could also check the extensive page _Korean.html and, if some of the free alternatives suits you, consider using it as a downloadable font. The fonts tend to be large, but the impact on efficiency might still be tolerable.
When attempting to import a korean font, the hangul characters show up in the preview, but appear broken or missing in the texture sheet and preview text after importing. How do I get the full range of characters to appear and function as a text render?
So really you just want to have Korean font mapping in the filetype options? Have you tried adding it? Just right click to add a language then right click on the language when it's been added and add your font:
But when I open the documents FM looks for the korean name of the font. In order to open the documents I have to substitute the korean font name with the english font name. It is the same font file - but the documents ask for the korean name. I substitute the font - but FM won't remember the substitution. I do have "Remember missing fonts" set to On in Preferences and I do save the documents. Only FM forgets between each opening that I have substituted fonts.
The font settings with korean font names had been written into the EDD. So I exported the EDD, found the korean style font names and changed them into english style font names. Then I imported the elements back into FM and voila! Things worked and my day got immensely better!
Notepad++ (v6.3) is my go-to text editor, a great program. Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Polish, etc all display fine...but not Korean characters which are displayed as little boxes. When I copy the text to Notepad it displays correctly.
In Notepad++, check the font (Settings > Style Configurator..., then Global Styles > Global override and Global Styles > Default Style). This is set to Courier New. Also tried Lucida Console. Korean characters are displayed as boxes. The vast majority of fonts do not display Korean correctly.
In Notepad++ as above, a small minority fonts that do display Korean correctly. Examples of working fonts are Batang, Dotum, Droid Sans Fallback, Estrangelo Edessa and a few others. I am not sure where these fonts came from, as I do a lot of internationalisation work I think I installed a few Asian language packs.
When drawing a chinese, japanese or korean text all I get are simple
squares. It works with all european languages and with russian fonts
flawlessly.

For more info, see the attached pictures. I have uploaded a test .story fil, that enables to reproduce the problem. In the attached picture Font_problem_when_translating_to_Korean, on top you have the fonts in SL, on the bottom the published result. In this case, the Acumin font translated well, and the Calibri got messed up. Both ARE unicode fonts. In our original project, the Acumin font gets messed up as well.
