Dear Friends,

 

Kindly accept our Sharodiya greetings.

 

This is to share with you all that the Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University had invited our Alumni President, Secretary and a few other Senior members in a meeting on 18^th September, 2017 in his office. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and others dignitaries of the University were also present in the meeting.

 

Vice-Chancellor informed that the University Grants Commission have decided to offer a grant of Rs. 1000 Crores to each of the 10 number of universities of India for a span of 5 years as an institution of Eminence for the development of university among all universities of India.

 

As you know, JU maintains its high reputation in ranking as an premier Institution of higher education of India and it is expected that there in a fair chance of getting the grant through selection.

 

But the grant commission has imposed a processing fee of Rupees One Crore during application. VC has informed that the University is under extremely financial constraints to incur such amount from University fund. As the same time he does not want to miss this opportunity for development of University which is long overdue.

 

He appealed to alumni institutions to raise the fund from the members and others to help to apply for the status Institute of eminence and to secure the grant which this University is worthy of getting it.

Under this circumstance I earnestly request all members of our Alumni Association including all Chapters and Branches in India/Abroad to generously donate to this noble cause by 20^th November 2017 through cheque in the name of “Alumni Association NCE Bengal & JU A/c Development JU” to us. Foreign donors may kindly send a copy of the inside page of passport bearing the passport number, Donations will be covered under 80G of IT Act.
