Starting this week, I started seeing this error for every post
jtwitter makes where the text contains a link:

winterwell.jtwitter.TwitterException$Unexplained: Unexplained failure
for tweet: expected "Here is a link: http://engt.co/nqPyqT" but got
Here is a link: http://t.co/tRCsPTL
at winterwell.jtwitter.Twitter.updateStatus(Twitter.java:3398)
at winterwell.jtwitter.Twitter.updateStatus(Twitter.java:3301)
at winterwell.jtwitter.Twitter.setStatus(Twitter.java:3043)
at
com.fyitag.fyitools.fyiApp.server.TwitterApi.updateStatus(TwitterApi.java:
111)

The tweet does get posted to twitter (and contains the visible text of
the engt.co link, but that link points to the t.co link).

Does jtwitter need to be updated to deal with this change from
Twitter?

Thanks,

Hi Jim,

Sorry for the problems. The t.co change came in this week. JTwitter
has been updated to handle it.
Download the latest version from
http://www.winterwell.com/software/jtwitter.php for the fix.

Best regards,
- Daniel

Thanks, Daniel. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I thought I was using the latest version. It claimed to be 1.8.3+
when I downloaded it, and that's what the webpage says is the current
version today. But after your message, I checked the md5sum and it
is different that what I downloaded today.

I would prefer if the download were named with a version number such
as "jtwitter-1.8.3+.jar" instead of just jtwitter.jar in order to
better keep track of which version is which.

Thanks again, Daniel.

Daniel can you tell me what kind of build you use? Maybe we can deploy the resulting artifact to mavencentral like I suggested before. Sorry I didn't came back to that issue.

As expected, the newest version of jtwitter 1.8.3+ takes care of the
problem.

Thanks.

Hi Rolf,

I use my company's internal build tool (it's called Bob the Builder if
you want to know). It's easily-extensible using shell commands or ant
tasks.
I'd be happy to deploy to Maven, but I'm not a Maven user, so someone
else would have to do the legwork of creating a pom file (& whatever
else is needed).

Best regards,
- Daniel

Daniel,
if ant is your build file it will be possible to use that and deploy it to mvncentral I'll search for the skeleton to do that :-)
