This is an old story -- from August of 2009 -- but I just ran across and and wanted to archive it into the Journalism That Matters Google Groups. And if you haven't ever watched Sonya Doctorian's video -- it's well worth seven minutes of your time.

Gatehouse Media sold Silverton, Colo., weekly, circulation 1,000, to an independent owner who lived in Telluride, who couldn't afford to maintain it. He donated it to the Silverton Historical Society. This video tells the story in a stunningly framed, seven-minute piece:
