My understanding is that JTM and this Google group are not confined to
citizen media.

I realize that the Google group was initially composed of participants
from JTM Minnesota -- which was for "entrepreneurs who combine
journalism, democracy, place and blogs", "bloggers, journalists,
editors, engaged citizens, researchers, educators and technologists."

JTM Silicon Valley was invited to the Google Group; that event had a
different focus.

JTM has held several gatherings; I think they have different themes.
But my perception of JTM is that it is meant to be fairly broad.

Have I misunderstood the intended scope?

I think of JTM as broader than citmedia, too. I just think that a
directory of sites is going to have a lot of overlap with the citmedia
and the placeblogger lists so I think there should be some way to take
advantage of them rather than duplicating effort. But in my dream
repository there would be plenty of room for profiles of other
projects too.
