Hi everyone,

The pre-release packages for 2.5.7 are available to JBS members at the following URL:

Also, you can test the updates by changing the update server to "Testing" in the Options in the Joomla Update component.

2.5.7 will be released in about 5 days to give people time to test the packages.   Note that the update packages have been renamed using 2.5.x instead of 2.5.0 to make it clear that it is for any 2.5.x version.

If you notice any release stoppers, please report it in the JBS mailing list.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Steve,

The link is at:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_pa
ckage_id=6490

Your email client may be cutting it off at the underscore so please make
sure to copy and paste the whole thing, including the _pa
ckage_id=6490 part.

Kind regards,
Nick

This is the full link I have been trying:

http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_pac
kage_id=6490

or

http://bit.ly/O92iVd

I am signed in as you can see from the attached screenshot. I totally admit
I could still be doing something wrong and I'll slap myself if you point it
out, but I'm still not getting it.

Thanks!

Are you a JBS member? The packages are only available for JBS members
since there are security fixes in them (in this case minor ones). It's a
catch-22, because we need testers.

If you're not a JBS member, you can either become one if you're interested
in helping out with bug fixes:
http://docs.joomla.org/Bug_Squad

or you can use the "testing" server by changing the update server to
"Testing" in the Options in the Joomla Update component.

Kind regards,
Nick

My apologies. I thought simply having a login for Joomlacode allowed this
and notification from the Google group was validation.

I would not mind being a tester, time permitting. I am not a coder, but I
usually keep a dev site going simply for trying extensions etc. I'll take a
look at the site, thanks!

For folks who can't download the packages from Joomlacode, you can always
download the development head from GitHub. For 2.5, that is at
https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/zipball/2.5.x

That looks like a full install. I may be missing something, but for testing,
wouldn't it be a patch of some kind just like the production ones?

Yes, patches are available to JBS members. If you're not on the JBS, you
can use the "testing" server by changing the update server to "Testing" in
the Options in the Joomla Update component.
