I recently upgraded jswat from 2.3.9 to 2013.1 as I could not make 2.3.9 to work with JDK1.7 (always core dump). The 2013.1 quit silently with jdk1.8, but could work with jdk1.7. But the speed is so slow compared to 2.3.9 probably due to the integration with NetBeans. I really don't care about the additional features other than debugging, otherwise I will just switch to a full IDE. I loved the old version with its lightweight and fast performance.

Now with 2013.1, thing often hang. Each time I need to wait for about a minute for a breakpoint to appear after I click on the line, and the background scanning is quite annoying too. I tried to disable it but somehow it's still very slow.

Any way I could get a true light weight version like 2.3.9 to work with higher JDK version like 1.7 or 1.8?

Or any suggestions to make 2013.1 stop hanging for me and respond more quickly?

For version 2.39, I'll take a look and see if it's something that can be easily fixed. As for newer versions, they are the way they are, I don't know why they would be so terribly slow. JSwat has always been fine for me, but then my projects tend to be small. Frankly, I haven't programmed in Java for several years and haven't used JSwat for at least as long. I test it prior to making a release, and it seems fine.

Thanks

I am using :

Product Version: JSwat 4.5

Java: 1.6.0_18; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 16.0-b13

System: Windows 7 version 6.1 running on amd64; Cp1252; en_US (jswat)

on a very large project and it is very fast, otherwise I would move to IntelliJ.
I will upgrade to 1.7 and if it is slow, I will let you know.

I've rebuilt the 2.39 source code, with some minor modifications, and zipped up a build; it's named jswat-2.40.zip and is on the

Let me know if that doesn't work for you.
