On Mac OS X 10.6.2 using version 4.5 I was trying to open the source
file from a call stack entry.

Yeah, that NPE is fixed in the source tree but I haven't made a
release yet. I need to make a build using an old release of NetBeans.
I had hoped to get a new release based on a newer version of NetBeans
but some unexpected issues came up.

In any case, I believe the issue appears because there is an entry in
the sourcepath that does not actually exist. For instance, it was
added to the debugger and some point later the path was deleted on
disk. It may help to remove the entry from the sourcepath.
