Hi everyone,

I know it sound a bit strange, but I would like to record participants reactions when they view pictures or videos. I came across one JATOS example, in which they record and save videos: https://www.jatos.org/Example-Studies.html. I have been playing around with it and with jsPSych examples/plugins but I don't know enough javascript/html to really understand how to best approach this.

For every trial, the recording should be started, a stimulus shown, recording stopped and the video maybe saved with the stimulus information. This seems to be the better solution, but I'm worried that participants would have to give permission to use the webcam on every single trial...
Alternatively, I was also thinking about recording one long video, but then I would somehow need markers for the on- and offset of the stimuli as well as the stimulus name, and I have no idea how to save that IN a video of the participant (audio? screen capture at the same time?).

Does anyone have an idea how to approach this? Would it make sense to write a new plugin for this, similar to https://github.com/becky-gilbert/jsPsych/blob/audio-response/plugins/jspsych-image-audio-response.js? Or is there a simpler solution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
Lea

Hi Lea,

We've moved jsPsych support here: https://github.com/jspsych/jsPsych/discussions. Would you mind posting your question there?

Thanks,
Josh
