Sorry about the Google Groups spam

Apparently spammers have begun targeting Google Groups more heavily.
I've been removing the messages and users as they come in but over the
last week it has gotten heavy. I'm moving to moderating new users'
posts. I liked the open nature of allowing anyone to post but the
spam is not worth it. So I apologize and will make every attempt to
approve legitimate messages quickly. Only new users will need to go
through this extra hoop, until I can verify that they are in fact real
users.
