Hello, I have a question regarding the parse method. Why does it not allow duplicate keys?

I feel that the expected behavior should be that the latest key overwrites the previous one. As it is implemented in Crockfords JSON and the JS-language as well.

I would agree that to have duplicate keys in your JSON-structure is a weird thing and to throw an error on it is a way to let the user know something is up. But I would like better if it was allowed.

Sorry for the delay here, Tryggve, but good news: JSON5's newest collaborator/co-maintainer, Jordan Tucker, just fixed this!
