I met with the Doctor this morning and it is official, I
have finished my regular treatments. It
is time to celebrate! I think I will
have some Ice Cream. The question is how
to do it, these things must be done del…icat..ely.
Most of this decision was related to my immune system still struggling to return. He said it is not really possible for him to administer additional treatments because of how long things are taking to return. Another treatment now and I might not come back.
My white blood count has gone up over the last two weeks from 1,900 to 2,200, not a whole lot. The Platelets were not much better, 102,000 to 107,000. The white count should be between 7,000 & 10,000 and when I started my Platelets were at 250,000. The last two treatments had a significant impact on recovery.
I will be going onto a maintenance program for the next two years. He said he will have to establish the program I will be on. It was not clear exactly what will be involved, though apparently a couple of the chemicals I have been receiving will be administered in much smaller doses every month. At first he said they would be given via IV but then he said they would be orally. He needs to put the plan together and I will receive this next Monday.
The bottom line is, I am in full recovery mode now; Physically, Family, and financially. It’s time to hit the ground running and move things forward solidly. I have been, to some degree, pursuing things more fully this time as I was not expecting to return for additional treatments, but there is much to do.
I am sure there will be challenges ahead, but this is very good news and a real opportunity to move forward. I owe a lot of thanks and appreciation to the countless people who have helped so much. I celebrated my 49th birthday on Saturday April the 21st and I can say that had it not been for everyone, that birthday would have been very different. This was all made possible by the prayers, visits, and assistance of everyone – thank you!
You all remain on my daily mass intention list.
John
Thank you, Jesus!!! This is wonderful news!! We serve an awesome God who is still in the healing/miracle business!
Truly awesome news – praise God from whom all blessings flow!!
“…we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
May you endure forever John J.

Great news John. And a belated Happy Birthday. When both of us get past the doctors and hospitals maybe we can do lunch again.
