i downloaded smppsim from selenium s/w
i followed the user guide regrading SMPP SIM installation...
after starting smppsim through
startsmppsim.bat

i have left smppsim.props file unmodified (as default settings)

In SMPPSim MO Injection Form (http://localhost:88/inject_mo.htm)
i hav changed dest-addr to my mobile no. after submit it says
"Message added to SMPPSim InboundQueue OK"
but i did not get any sms

what are values should i use in source_addr , destination_addr, other
attrib ..So that SMS is sent to my mobile ?
where am i going wrong ?

Rajesh,

This is not how all of this works.
It' client / server topology where :-
Esme acts as a client ,
Smsc acts as a server,

smppsim from selenium is a SIMULATOR for smsc . It can't send sms to your mobile , you need to create a esme application and need to connect to smppsim and then the sms will be delivered to your esme application .not to your mobile.

sorry!  i reallly confused with gateway concept and jsmpp;
then..... will jsmpp be used only by the service  providers like vodaphone,Airtel to create their own SMSC (message center)
am i right ?
---
note:sorry for the confusion, i was in process of creating an auto responding application; we have planned use sms gateway . i.e send sms through GSM modem and read the incoming messages from gsm modem & and service the customer according to his/her need.... now i am in big doubt.
should we implement/use this smpp/jsmpp ?
if yes kindly direct me to create emse application w example ?

Then you don't need smpp at all. simply use java sms apis , you need to download the java comm api and program that way. I have done that without difficulty in past. for pointer use this :-

I have used my Sony Ericsson P990i  which has gsm modem. SMS java api is only useful if you want to read the incoming message from gsm modem and want to send the message through the gsm modem. If this is what you need then just use SMS api. but in this scenario  , I am just curious how would your customer send message to your gsm modem . Are you trying to write an app which service like short number (like the sms is sent to 8888 or 54321) ? if yes, then you might need to use smpp.

if u can read the sms that received on ur mobile! then it will not be a problem.  can't we use our  mobile  no. instead of this 8888 ! this wat our plan first to try w phone then  try modem

Hi All,

Little not connected to the subject of this thread but since we are talking of emse and smppsim is connected I wanted to know;
can I use the SMPPSim code freely to build my application ?

regards,
wani
