I've noticed that when connecting to SMSC with the normal 3-parameter
connectAndBind method, the connection is lost after a bit more than a
minute of idle time. Even though I did not know what exactly controls
disconnection, setting the EnquireLinkTimer did buy me sometime before
the connections were closed. Setting EnquireLinkTimer to 30000 closed
the two connections I created after 5 minutes and 7 minutes of
inactivity. Can anyone tell me what relation exactly is between this
timer and connection life? Is there anything else that controls how
long the connection may stay idle before it disconnects?

Hi,

If the link is breaking its mean there is a problem at SMPP server
end..
or one reason is due to bad session.. pls confirm from the SMPP Server
assistance why the link is breaking... and if link is breaking
oftenly..we can use the enquiry link sender to reconnect the session
with the SMPP Server

Regards
Manoj

Hi Manoj,

It depends on service provider better contact the service provider for the exact enquire link frequency. With my experience with Idea Cellular they say to have an enquire link at an interval of 15 minutes. But in practice it works fine on my setting enquire link timer at frequency of 5 minutes. It has worked in my case. The best case would be even after implementation the SMS sending fails try to reconnect to service and send same message again. I do not think enquire link can reconnect.

Hi All,
Please let me know if I am wrong.

Thanks and Regards,
Vikash Anand.
