contest for engineering college students ‘Technology
Dissemination Contest for Students’ (TDCS-2016) during July / August
2016.
TDCS-2016 is a unique contest where college
students are given an opportunity to disseminate information about emerging
technologies among urban and rural high school students and based on feedback
obtained from the schools, prizes are awarded. In order to promote the IEEE
quest for ‘Advancing Technology for the benefit of humanity’, TDCS-2016 participants
are not only exempt from any registration fee, but even some financial support
is provided to them. Salient features of the contest are given at the end
of the communiqué. A copy of TDCS-2016 Brochure is also attached to this mail.
It is requested that wide publicity may be given
for this Contest in your college/ associated colleges in your reach.

SALIENT FEATURES
Name of
contest:
Technology Dissemination Contest for
Students (TDCS-2016)
Objective:
· Main objective of TDCS is to use
Engineering college students to disseminate information about emerging
technologies among Rural and Urban high School children to create interest in
them. TDCS also works as a platform for the participating college
students to experiment with different modern educational tools and use their
innovativeness in using the tools effectively.
Eligibility:
· Engineering College student
groups (2, 3 or 4 students doing BE / B Tech from a college can form a group)
at all levels and disciplines from across the country (No registration fee).
Contest
Procedure and Schedule:
· Form Groups within each college
(Max: 5) & report to Program coordinator: July, 18, 2016
Phase
–I of contest: College level
· Each group to give presentation on an emerging technology (Suggested
list given) to students of 2 Rural and 2 Urban schools (Std VIII to Std X); Obtain
confidential feedback from School authorities and Submit to their respective
Colleges. College to send completion certificate to Program Convener in respect
of that group: Aug, 6, 2016
· Each
group to give a presentation on the same topic in their respective colleges;
based on their presentation in the college and the confidential feedback
obtained from the 4 schools, each college has to select two top groups and
intimate to Program convener: Aug, 19, 2016.
Phase –II of contest: Inter-college level
· Final selection from among all
colleges (2 top groups selected by each college) to be done by IEEE Selection
Committee for three Prizes. This will be held at JSPM’s JSCOE,Pune in August
Last week
Financial
Support:
· All participating groups will be
eligible for a financial support of Rs. 500, if at least one of the
students in the group is an IEEE student member (if not, the support for the
group will be restricted to Rs. 300/- only). However, financial support will be
restricted to a maximum of 60 groups on a ‘First come –First Take’ basis, based
on completion certificate from their respective college. Money shall be
disbursed thorough the college authorities, subject to eligibility.
Prizes:
· First Prize: Rs.10, 000; Second
Prize: Rs.7,000; Third Prize:5,000; Prizes will be given only if there is at
least one IEEE student member in that group; Otherwise, only certificate will
be given.
· Trophy / Shield will be given to colleges from where student group win
prizes for encouraging their students.
· All participating student members
will be given a ‘Certificate of Participation’
