Q: Will programs limit their activities to single-handed boats, or will double handed boats also be permitted?

A: One program stated they will allow only Optimist sailors with at least one year of experience. And each sailor will use only their private boat, or a designated program boat that no other sailor will use during the season. Morning Opti A and B classes will be staggered, as will afternoon classes.

Another program stated that they will allow beginner Optis because they will be given essentially private instruction on 1:1 basis by their instructor during the first week of the program (the program feels this is a better alternative than having no instruction at all for beginners). After that initial training, the beginner Optis will switch to small groups of 4 supervised by one instructor.

Three other programs stated they will permit crews in double handed boats like Club 420s and Fevas to be crewed by sailors from different families as long as those families agree to keep their kids in a "quaranteam" for 14 days before the start and throughout the program. However, if one of the crew members cannot attend on a specific day, their teammate will not be paired up with anyone else.
