Why did PyPy stop supporting their JavaScript backend to RPython?

Hello

Last year Luke Leighton started an interesting thread on the PyPy list:  [pypy-dev] pypy appears to have entirely removed all mention of javascript back-end support from web site.

The PyPy people did develop a JavaScript backend to RPython, but then stopped supporting it because it was too much work, no-one was interested, and the performance was terrible (as I recall).

Yes, it's sad. But I believe that js2py (=having a nice JS library,
and a simple translator) is the way to go.
