<guten>
I'm coming to Berlin from the states to give a talk at jsConf EU about functional reactive programming (FRP) and JavaScript. I would love to be able to present at BerlinJS in September beforehand! And also to hang out with the JS community in Berlin (I'll be there from August 17th - September 28th).
The talk will be about how we should think of continuously changing data differently than discretely changing data (think scrolling vs clicking a button, or animation vs updating a view model's name field). I think in the continuously changing world, streams, piping, and lazy evaluation is a better paradigm than the MVC (getters, setters, state) tools we currently use. The talk will also include some philosophical rambling, as to me the difference between OOP and FRP is a difference between "I think therefore I am" (Descartes) and "to be is to be perceived" (Berkeley), and I strongly believe that is the way to teach FRP, and not to get lost in the technical jargon. But to find out more, you'll need to host me! :-P
About me: I used to be the "chief architect" (read: lead developer) at a company called Famo.us, (still!) best known for this
http://periodic.famo.us. Before then I got a PhD in math. I'm going to Berlin so early to go to the Chaos Communication Camp, so any of you will be there let me know!
