Joy Marter Tippit has set up a group of former students at Gore Springs
School. If you attended Gore Springs or if you are interested in the
group, send me an email and I'll put you in touch with Joy.

Salli Martin Riddell's address is 425 Forest Lake Place Madison, MS 39110, and she'll be home Friday after double mastectomy. I'm sure she'd love a card.

I read on the JRHS site that Mary Jane Botelor asked for dialogue on the 1967 JRHS integration.

She might find it very interesting to read an account of a Jewish (a self-described "Four-Nevers Jew, " Never forget, Never forgive, Never again, and Never stand by and let that happen to anyone else") civil rights worker, Bruce Hartford, assigned to Grenada,  Mississippi,  "where one of the longest-sustained mass-movements of the era fought for voter registration, jobs, and school desegregation"  took place. http://www.crmvet.org/info/grenada.htm

Talk about perspectives, we were inside JRHS, he was helping make the change happen.

For those that are interested, there is an earlier post on civil
rights era in Grenada (go to the list of messages and scroll back to
the earlier ones -- the civil rights post by Mary Gene is number 7 or
8, I believe). Also, there are some messages posted at
http://www.maxeycoffee.com/jrhs/civil_rights/index.htm. This is a
complicated issue but much like the theme from my son's high school
play, "High School Musical", -- "... we are all in this together."
