Divide day by slots ( Mroning, Afternoon, Night ... )

hi,
i would like to create custome slots by days, that regroups few hours (ex : Morning , Noon , Afternoon, Night )
I don't know the best (simpliest) way to do that, maybe just like wen scaling a day in some hours slots.
If anybody got an idea or did some works/tests to create custom scales ( that would be a great thing to implement !! )....
