I saw there were some updates to the github repository (fixes for jQuery 1.5 it seems):

https://github.com/hafriedlander/jquery.entwine

Is anybody still using Entwine?

The community doesn't seem to be terribly active, but Entwine is still
heavily used at SilverStripe (my employer)

- It's used in several client-specific projects, including some
pretty large ones (for New Zealand anyway)

- It's a core component of the SilverStripe 3 CMS rewrite currently
in development

There haven't been any new features added because Entwine is pretty
much "done". Other than bug fixes and updates to keep it compatible
with new jQuery versions, there's unlikely to be significant changes
to the core. I am going to be trying to make sure Entwine stays
compatible with the latest jQuery a bit more aggressively though -
there have been times where I've lagged behind by a couple of months.

There are a few extensions, additional libraries and example code that
I'd like to do, but unlike Entwine itself those don't have any
dependent projects, just my wanting to do them, so progress has been a
little slow.

Having said that, I'm a little confused about the lack of uptake by
others. Most of the developers I know in person really like it and use
it often, so why it doesn't get much use outside SilverStripe I'm not
sure. Maybe I need a shiny website and logo :P.

I noticed the recent updates, really appreciate it.

What kind of extensions/addition libraries did you have in mind?

The inability to send messages to this group probably didn't help ;-)

Anyway, I really like the Concrete JS pattern and Entwine is the only active framework that supports this pattern (AFAIK).
I really do think a shiny website and logo would help, we could use the Github pages feature ( http://pages.github.com/ ) for a start.
A small tutorial or some examples (somewhat like: http://arturadib.com/hello-backbonejs/docs/1.html) could also help a lot.

I also posted some Entwine examples on HackerNews, I created the examples on jsfiddle.net which allows people to play with it, for example:

Cheers,

Erik.

I think it is very important to do a little promotion for this project, this community could be a lot more active if more people have actually heard about it.

I started work on a (shiny) website:

I am not much of a web designer, so it's created using Twitter's bootstrap framework.
I only focused on the layout thus far, most of the content is copied and pasted from the GitHub page.

In this example I decided to call the project Entwine.js instead of jQuery Entwine, in my opinion the former sounds nicer and is easier to communicate in (real life) developer discussions.

Please let me know your thoughts about this.

If we agree to use this we can eventually host it using GitHub Pages: http://pages.github.com

Cheers,

Erik.
