This is a vote to re-elect Dave Methvin to the Board, with a term ending June 24 2017.

There are currently nine jQuery Foundation board members. Dave is excused from voting as he is ineligible to vote for himself. This vote will pass if there are five or more votes in the affirmative.

I am going to take the controversial step and vote -1 here, in part
because I expect it will have no effect as Dave will still likely get
the votes needed, but to make a statement for the following reasons:

* The foundation board has struggled to be effective
* The board in general, and Dave and a few others in particular, are not
listening to, acting on, or proceeding quickly enough with the feedback
that has been provided to it by some members of the board
* Commitments made at one board meeting are not followed through at the
next meeting, or are further delayed for reasons I do not agree with
* It seems odd to me that the board votes for its own members. I believe
the board should be elected by a mix of the project team members and
foundation members, so if I have my choice, I would suggest that we
elect a new board through a more democratic process

I realize that this is not a popular thing to do, probably seems like it
is coming out of left field, and the easy thing would be to just vote
+1. I hope that it is clear that my reasons for voting -1 have less to
do with Dave than they have to do with how the board is running currently.

Regards,
-Dylan

I support Dylan's comments as delivered, in the spirit of constructive guidance.  At the same time, we don't have a backlog of other options.  And frequently, the right answer is to refactor an existing feature.
