Hi all,

I wanted to float out some possible recommendations we could make to the full council:

1)  A representative or group of representatives from the council should go to the June 2nd meeting prepared to tell Whole Foods that we want them to engage in a community process over the next two months, including multiple open meetings.  The purpose of this process would be to work on a comprehensive list of Community Benefits that include substantial steps to protect small businesses, prevent displacement of low income community members, employ locally and fairly, provide healthy food options at affordable prices, and alleviate parking, traffic, and environmental concerns.

2)  The council should disban the ad hoc committee on Whole Foods and create in its place an ad hoc committee on gentrification, to work on long term political solutions and strategies to keep JP affordable and diverse.  The council members on this committee should enage in outreach specifically to low income residents and residents of color to join the committee.
