Just an FYI, that the next Whole Foods 5% is going to support Boston Bounty Bucks, a program we discussed a bit in our last meeting.

Subject: 5% Day for Bounty Bucks

Please shop at Whole Foods on Tuesday, May 24th.

The money raised helps support the Boston Bounty Bucks that $s in the hands of SNAP (food stamp) recipients at Farmers' Markets. It puts good food in the hands of people that need it, money in the hands of our local farmers, and makes farmers' markets economically viable where they might not otherwise be.

Join Us at Whole Foods - Tuesday, May 24
On Tuesday, May 24, Whole Foods Market's three Boston stores are holding a 5% Day -- and The Food Project’s Boston Bounty Bucks program will benefit!

Five percent of the day’s net sales from each store will be donated to support low-income people’s ability to buy fresh, locally grown produce at participating farmers’ markets throughout Boston.

Mayor Menino Opens Greenhouse (read our blog entry)
Neighbors, friends, and supporters gathered at the official opening of the Dudley Greenhouse. The event, which took place on May 11, featured Mayor Menino and neighborhood notables, whose remarks applauded the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI) and The Food Project for working to bring this important resource to the community.

Boston City Farm Fest a Big Success,
Lynn Farm Fest Promises More This Saturday

Though we had to move this spring’s Boston City Farm Fest inside the Dudley Greenhouse, the rain did not keep eager gardeners away. Through the late morning and early afternoon on May 7, they stood patiently in line to buy their shares of transplants, seeds, and garden supplies. Youth and staff from The Food Project were on hand to distribute the wares, along with expert gardening advice. Adding to the festive atmosphere were our friends from Clover, who parked their healthy food truck next to the greenhouse and offered tasty vegetarian treats.

We’re expecting continued success this Saturday, May 21, when our North Shore edition of City Farm Fest will take place in Lynn. It’ll go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on TFP’s Munroe Street Farm in downtown Lynn.
More information is available on our website.
