ASIA Featuring John Payne Welcomes Grammy®-Winning Guitarist Bruce Bouillet on Summer Live Dates

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 9, 2011

Los Angeles, CA - Classic and progressive rock band ASIA Featuring John Payne announce a series of summer live dates with a new member, incredible virtuoso guitarist Bruce Bouillet:

August 12, 2011 Coconut Creek, Florida: Seminole Casino
August 13, 2011 Hollister, CA: Peppertree Ranch/Guerra Family Cellars
August 26, 2011 Lewiston Idaho: Hot August Nights at Pioneer Park
August 27, 2011 Moses Lake, WA: Moses Lake Centennial Amphitheater (FREE SHOW)
September 2, 2011 Denver, CO: A Taste of Colorado (FREE SHOW)
September 3, 2011 Dubuque, IA: Diamond Jo Casino, Mississippi Moon Bar

Bouillet made his name playing explosive, yet precise melodic guitar with Racer X and The Scream. Later he formed Epidemic, touring with acts including Nickelback and Seether. In 2005, Bouillet won a Grammy® award for his production work with Motorhead. He also works with Paul Gilbert, with whom he recently toured as part of G3, along with with Joe Satriani and John Petrucci. He has just finished his third solo instrumental album.

Bruce is now working with the band in the studio on their upcoming album "Americana". "The band and myself are excited to welcome our good friend Bruce and look forward to a new chapter for us all", remarked John Payne.

The ASIA Featuring John Payne lineup is:
John Payne (lead vocals, bass)
Bruce Bouillet (guitars, backing vocals)
Erik Norlander (keyboards, backing vocals)
Jay Schellen (drums, backing vocals)

John Payne became the frontman of the supergroup ASIA in 1992 at the invitation of keyboardist Geoff Downes, replacing vocalist/bassist John Wetton. With John Payne fronting the band, ASIA released 8 stunning studio albums, several live albums, a live DVD and toured the world extensively for 14 years.

In 2006, Geoff Downes left the band to reform the 1982 line up for their 25th anniversary. On the 9th of May 2006, John Payne, Geoff Downes, John Wetton, Carl Palmer and Steve Howe contractually agreed that John Payne would continue his 14 year legacy with ASIA as "ASIA Featuring John Payne".

ASIA Featuring John Payne have been touring in North America since 2008, with noted keyboardist Erik Norlander and progressive rock drummer Jay Schellen. In 2009 the band released an EP entitled "Military Man". A new studio album entitled "Americana" is planned for release in 2011.

A big welcome to Bruce, but I'm sorry to hear of further line-up instability in the band. John Payne and Geoff Downes struggled for many years to build a stable line-up around them, and it appears AFJP faces the same problem: this is the third guitarist and they still haven't released their first album! I also worry that a new guitarist may mean _Americana_ is delayed further if work with Perry has to be re-done with Bouillet.

In other news, Guthrie Govan's new project with bassist Bryan Beller (best known for his work with Mike Keneally) and drummer Marco Minnemann (been working with Eddie Jobson in UKZ, U-Z and the UK reunion tour), called The Aristocrats, have a preview of their album, due September, on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF1ocQwrYJw&feature=player_embedded
