Hi all,

I'm posting here my review of last night's show @ Coconut Creek that I
posted on the discussions area of the AFJP Facebook page for the
benefit of those who are not on FB

Last night was the first show of ASIA (fJP) with new guitarist Bruce
Bouillett. So how was it you ask? Fantastic show is the answer! The
band really rocked hard last night and there were interesting new
arrangements to some of the songs. Guitarist Bruce Bouillett is a
perfect fit with the band and he did an admirable job considering he
only had two days rehearsal with the band before the show. He only had
a bit of trouble with "Go", but I don't think most of the audience
noticed. One of the highlights of the show was "Desire" a song Bruce
seemed to like because he really was into that one. But it was "Sole
Survivor" where Bruce showed his amazing guitar playing and, of all
the guitarists ASIA has had, his soloing towards the end of the song
has become my favorite hands down! His playing was tasty, and not
flashy in the least. I can't wait to see what he can do with ASIA on
the new album! At least, from what I heard last night, Bruce can take
the band to a new level, musically speaking.

Of course, the rest of the band were fantastic as always. John Payne
was spot on all night, and Jay Schellen's drum solo was very musical
and entertaining. Erik Norlander's solo wowed the audience, I could
hear people around me amazed at how good he was. All in all it was a
great show last night. Please, do yourself a favor, if ASIA featuring
John Payne comes reasonably close to your area, "get up and GO"

The setlist was basically the same as the last three years with the
exception of "Time Again" which was not played. The highlights to me
were: Desire, Different Worlds, Military Man, Sole Survivor

Setlist: 1-Long Way From Home 2-Only Time Will Tell 3-Who Will Stop
The Rain 4-Silent Nation 5-Days Like These 6-Desire 7-Go 8-Erik
Norlander solo (including Neurosaur and Jay Schellen's drum solo) 9-
Don't Cry 10-Different Worlds 11-Military Man 12-Heat Of The Moment 13-
Sole Survivor

Hi all,

I took pictures from the Coconut Creek show. Here is the link:

Let me know if it works. Also, if you are on Facebook, I've tagged the
pictures in the photo section of the AFJP FB page. You can see them
there.

Sounds like a great show!

So...Is Mitch no longer with AFJP, or was he just not able to make the gig?
Not that I wouldn't mind seeing/hearing Bruce, it's just that I've seen them
with both Guthrie & Mitch and would hope that AFJP can lock down a
solid line-up -- no offense to any of these great axemen!

@ Bill: You're welcome! @ Tim: Mitch is no longer with the band. I
didn't ask why because the show was so good and I was enjoying myself
so much, I didn't want to be a downer. However, I'll use your question
to give some bits of info I shared on the ASIA fJP fb page:

John Payne told me the new album is coming along very nicely and that
they are adding some interesting new parts to it. Jay Schellen told me
that Bruce Bouillet will play guitar on the whole record, so we can
say with certainty Mr. Bouillet is AFJP new guitarist. Jay also told
me he is glad Bruce is with the band so that they can move forward
with finishing the new album. As to the time frame of when the album
will be ready, I was told it could take a couple of months so we need
to be patient. It looks that it will be worth the wait. Hope this
answer some of your questions.

I agree with you Tim, I wish for a stable lineup for the band.
Hopefully, Bruce Bouillet will make the gig his so we can have a
classic lineup. Best regards,

Gerardo

You're welcome Wally! You were at the St. Petersburg show in '08 and
last year at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando. You've certainly have
done your share in supporting AFJP. Best regards,

Gerardo
